Welcome To New Haven Church Of God In Christ
Aliso Village was a housing project in Los Angeles, CA. Built in 1942 and demolished in 1999. The 29-acre parcel was replaced by Pueblo del Sol Housing Projects.
Aliso Village became a temporary home to many African American families that traveled to Los Angeles, CA seeking a better life and a fresh start.
But Aliso Village holds another distinction. Led by God, Pastor Willie Newton and his bride Gustavia left Texas with their children and also found their way to this housing project on the Eastside of Los Angeles.
Undoubtedly called to preach the Gospel, Pastor Newton and Sis Newton prayed out and began Aliso Village Church Of God In Christ.
Pastor Newton taught and preached an unadulterated, uncompromising Word of God. Thru his obedience to God, many souls were saved, lives were changed and transformed.
As the neighborhood changed and members were added, Aliso Village COGIC grew as a beautiful thriving ministry and was renamed New Haven Church of God In Christ.
Pastor and Sis Newton have gone to be with the Lord. Their presence is sorely missed, but their teaching and examples are woven prominently thru the fabric of our history. Their work has not been in vain.
After the Lord called Our founder Pastor Newton to glory, Elder Watts served as interim Pastor for 8 months in 1983.
